Code of Conduct

Upholding Sportsmanship, Teamwork & Integrity in Youth Baseball and Softball



The Elgin Baseball & Softball Association is committed to creating an environment where our athletes can learn, compete, grow, and enjoy the game.

Our Code of Conduct establishes the expectations for EBSA players, coaches and managers, volunteers, parents and guardians, and Board Members.

Participation in EBSA means being part of a community built on respect, integrity, fairness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

OUR EXPECTATIONS

RESPECT

Treat players, coaches, officials, volunteers, parents, and spectators with courtesy and dignity.


TEAMWORK

Promote cooperation, support, and positive encouragement among teammates and throughout the EBSA community.


SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Support opportunities for players to learn, grow, and improve in a safe and constructive environment.


ENJOYMENT

Help create a fun and welcoming atmosphere that values participation and personal development.

ZERO TOLERANCE


EBSA maintains a Zero Tolerance Policy for language,

 gestures, or behavior that is:

 • Abusive • Discriminatory • Offensive

 • Harassing • Threatening • Intimidating

or otherwise inconsistent with the mission of EBSA.

Violations may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of membership. Severe or repeat offenses may also result in criminal charges.




WHO THE CODE APPLIES TO

Players
Youth participants registered in EBSA-sanctioned leagues and events.

Coaches & Managers
Board-approved adults responsible for leading, instructing, and mentoring teams.

Volunteers
Individuals assisting with EBSA activities, events, and operations.

Parents & Guardians
Legal guardians supporting their children and EBSA activities.

Anyone Visiting the Complex

Anyone visiting the complex to watch a practice, game or just on-site.

Board Members
Elected or appointed individuals responsible for EBSA governance and oversight.

OUR FACILITY

EBSA facilities are privately owned and maintained by volunteer effort alone and are provided to support EBSA programs and our mission.

Use of the facilities must be approved by EBSA. Members are expected to respect EBSA property, follow posted rules, report hazards, and respect the designated practice and game times of other teams.

Use outside of standard EBSA programming requires prior written approval from the EBSA Board of Directors

ACCOUNTABILITY

Violations of the Code of Conduct, EBSA Bylaws, or other EBSA policies may result in disciplinary action.

The EBSA Board documents and reports incidents for review. Members subject to disciplinary action have the right to be informed of the alleged violation and the disciplinary action determined appropriate by the Board.

The EBSA Board of Directors has final authority regarding disciplinary outcomes, including the length of a suspension or termination of membership.
